Shutting down the imac?

When I shut down the imac sometimes I get a white screen with a dotted spinning circle for a few to ten seconds. Is this normal. 2012 imac

It's normal, don't worry about it (my MBA does it)

Yep... totally normal. I have had many iMacs and various Macbooks and they all do this while shutting down.

Yes is normal...is Apple motto when you are shutting down..like the one in Windows where is telling you that your system is shutting down

Yes it's normal but my question is, do you have to shut down or are you doing it from habbit?
