Recently installed another hd in a mac pro, purely for backup. Running snow leopard and everytime the mac is booted or awakened from sleep, the hd shows up on the desktop- i have to eject it to spin it down. Although i have written an applescript to do this, i dont want the hd to automatically spin up in the first place. I have tried writing an fstab file successfully, the hd doesnt mount-but it still spins up. Is there any way I can modify a plist, a kext file or something else in the os so the secondary hd doesnt spin up but just plays dead until i mount it?
