for the first time in a very long time I downloaded a wallpaper app and replaced the stock ios9 wallpapers. Hope apple add a few more or at least bring back the mountains and stars etc as these new ones are pretty ugly. Different, but ugly.

They really are fourth division stuff. Cook is continuing to let standards slip. It's these small things that are signalling worse to come...

I remember from iOS 2 or 3, we can change default wallpaper as we wish.
I keep my personal wallpaper all day long. Don't even bother using default one if possible.

Which app are you using? There's a ton out there, but idk which to try. I am assuming most are garbage and infested with ads. I am curious if you've found anything good :)

Why use an app for backgrounds when you can use just about any image and set it within the iOS settings on your own?

Seems ridiculously pointless to install an app when you can already change it to whatever you want. Even old iOS backgrounds no longer in iOS.

InterfaceLift works well for me...beautiful photography based wallpapers/no-ads :)

Because these apps have some really nice collections and they are correctly sized for the iPhone you are running it on. Much easier than searching on the web.

Personally I really like most of the new wallpapers. Only the first ones with some weird surfaces and ugly color schemes are meh. But all the others are cool. Personally I didn't like the previous landscape wallpapers all that much. Landscapes as wallpaper are so boring and obvious.

There's thousands of websites out there for iPhone wallpapers. Nobody on this website should still be using stock Apple wallpapers. Leave that to the common users who don't know any better

Edit: I've been using this one a lot iphone6papers.com every wallpaper is available for the 6 and 6+

That's a pretty dumb statement. Why would the stock wallpapers be for "common users only?"

I've been using the stock wallpapers since I started using iOS with iOS 3. Does that make me a "common user?"

I don't blame Apple for getting rid of most of the wallpapers. They are all reminders of iOS past. I especially didn't care for the iphone C flavored ones.

Are they new wallpapers fantastic? meh, they are ok but you can set whatever background you want so it doesn't really matter.

It's not so much that they "shouldn't" do it but rather that, yes, I am also surprised that anyone on this page would want to use any of them.

So there's the OP and now you. I suppose there's more around. Until this thread I would not have thought you existed.

Since its SOOO difficult to save an image and use as a wallpaper this must be causing you a lot of stress. Beauty is subjective as I'm sure you are told. It's amazing what people will complain about.

is it that hard to not use them if u dont like them? or google the previous wallpapers they had & use those..?

& if they kept all wallpapers since iphone came out..complaints about space usage etc
Can you point at where they may be available? I've yet to come across a site which has the purple mountain wallpaper in 2208x2208!

its everywhere across multiple wallpaper sites when i was looking for more iphone wallpapers, but in that absurd resolution..well thats something else..

It's not dumb at all, it's not that you shouldn't use it. If you like them that's perfectly fine.but in the case of the OP he doesn't like the selection so he should know that there's plethora of options out there and the fact that he doesn't like the stock wallpapers shouldn't be an issue

Except that's not really what the earlier reply said.

It's actually 2662x2662 which is the resolution of the Apple official wallpapers.
Using a lower resolution results in a less than satisfying result as dekoapp.com rightly says:
"iOS is of course happy to use smaller or bigger files and resize or crop them to fit, but this can result in artefacts as the images get interpolated. So for pixel-perfection use the dimensions below or grab the Photoshop templates."

Being a photographer I've used my own images as my wallpaper on any device I own. I'm surprised adults, I assume those who are complaining are adults, care this much about default wallpapers. Your everyday lives must be so difficult, really.
