we took some old monitors and keyboards and smashed them up office space style ...

we we're having trouble getting approval from our student union to get some new computers for our office, so we smashed some monitors and ran a sexy photo of it happening on the cover of our magazine

the union pres and vp's laughed, and approved our request ... now me and the boys are working away on our sweet new 20 inch iMac's <-- I love that iSight

we have a few old All-in-one G3's that will share a similar fate as those monitors in a an office wide beat down.

It says on their site that they have ordered an vintage Apple II, and that it will be smashed, of course.

*shudders*

They are simply ignorant adolescents, with nothing better to do. I feel sorry for them, I really do.

Actually, I was referring to a portable (not saying the name just so lurkers wont get any ideas). I will be royally pissed if they smashed that.

I'm ashamed to be an American.

I also wish that can of WD-40 had exploded in his face and maimed him for life...

What's making all the flames come up when he sprays it with the WD-40? That's just grease/lubricant...why is making so much flames?

You know everyone getting their panties in a bunch over this brings up an interesting point about materialism, why is it your so attached to commercial goods that seeing them be abused is hard for you to handle?

Well for me that's not the issue at all. It's a matter of creativity verses mindless destruction. That so many people seem to get a kick out of wrecking things is quite worrying. I'd be equally bemused if they were hacking the heads off dandelions (which are considered weeds and are of no commercial value) and chuckling to themselves like demented apes.

Agreed. It's not that I'm attached to the material objects they're destroying, it's more the fact that they're destroying brand new things, and taking joy in it.

Breaking stuff can be a release at times, but filming it, putting it online and trying to look badass while doing it doesn't seem to qualify.

When I feel the need to break stuff, I go down to the computer recycling center, where they need volunteers to smash computers to bits so they can separate plastic from metal from circuitboards. I take my 10 lb sledgehammer, put 15 or 20 computers out on the cement platform, and bash them into pieces. The difference is that it's for a good cause (keeping unwanted computers out of landfills). The pieces get sorted apart and individually recycled.

Finding a release is important at times, but busting up working computers in the street in front of your hose, simply for amusement really seems immature and stupid.

it's flammable

WD-40 is petroleum based just like all those wonderful things like gasoline, and all those other wonderful fuels.

Seeing sites like this make me sad that natural selection isn't really in effect anymore, however there is still hope that there will be a power tool mishap.

As would I. Its not so bad to destroy recent technology (well it is, but you will get the idea), but something with history such as the Apple II ? And the a**holes know that it will piss people off if they smash it, so they will.

But meh, they wanna do something stupid, who cares? Its not the first time...

You guys are taking this all to seriously.

These guys are obviously very imature and have nothing better to do.

Don't let it get under your skin.

On a side note, it's too bad they just don't sell cheaply or give away old equipment to someone who would love to have it.

You are correct- Stop paying attention to them. It makes me sad too. Some kid who can't afford this stuff sure could use it, instead of these guys smashing it. Some day they'll grow up. In the meantime, just stop looking and giving them your attention.
