Sidebar in mac

Hello,yesterday I had installed a sidebar gadget in mac.Now my brother wants to quit it and we dont now how!

Open the application switcher (CMD + Tab), highlight the app and quit it (CMD + Q) from there. Out of interest, which app is it?

Can you be a little more descriptive? What's it called? Is it a Widget (Gadgets are Windows), or an actual standalone application? How was it installed? Can you post a screen shot?
