Up until about 2 weeks ago I had no issues connecting my iPad (9th gen, iPadOS 18) to my M1 Air (Sonoma 15.7.5) but, suddenly, it's refusing to connect via cable and acts as if I'm trying to use it over WiFi. Note that I am able to sync the iPad with the Mac just fine on the same Apple USB-C-to-Lightning cable that came with the iPad so it's not an issue with a "charge-only cable" as suggested by [ever-worsening] search engine results. I have tried this before and after syncing, when the iPad is "trusted" and also after resetting both devices. I'm starting to wonder if [yet one more] bug was introduced with the 15.7.5 Mac update I installed a few days ago.

Wondering if anyone has seen this. I'd be more frustrated if I hadn't grown accustomed to expecting less from Apple. And, yeah, an iPad 9 is a poor replacement for a secondary monitor.
