I recently upgraded to Sierra from Mavericks.

One of the apps I've attempted to install on Sierra stores its preference file inside a folder inside the main app folder which is in turn inside the Applications Folder.

Applications > App folder > Preferences > Preference.txt

This app is not actually saving changes to its preference folder thus I am wondering if this was a security issue with Sierra? I am using an administration account. For example; if I change the main language form the default French to English it changes within the app, but this is not saved to the preference text file as when the app is restarted its French again.

The app runs in demo mode; however, I've not been able to register it possibly because its not writing to its preference folder. This is a app from a unknown publisher (i.e., not approved by the AppStore); however, I've used it for years on Mavericks.
