I need to download a software, then comes a popup "Sign-in to download from the Apple Store"
and in the next line a field with a wrong eMail address and no way to correct it, the field is grey and accepts no entry.
Who designs that stupidity?
Apparently that is a well known glitch that Apple carries over since years across many os versions.
I finally found the solution (Thanks Google) you must go completely elsewhere at https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage, sign out and sign in again to get rid of it.

Would it have been an offense to Apple's "King of usability"majesty to give directly the opportunity to adjust the account directly inplace?

Are you downloading new software or an update? If you’re talking about an update there’s logic behind it. If an app needs an update it will ask for the Apple ID and Password used to originally download/purchase the app. If it’s a paid for app you can only use the Apple ID it was originally purchased with to download the update.

I think they are complaining they can’t manage the Apple ID account settings from within the pop up dialog itself, but have to do management activities (like switch which email is associated to the Apple ID) through a separate workflow (logging in via iCloud/Apple ID we site). Queue the debate whether this is “insanity”.

Exactly: ...but have to google to find that >400 persons stumbled upon the same problem until one of them finally found out that you must adjust on an Apple's webpage, which is everything, but obvious.
What about adding at least an icon "?" leading to an explanation?
