Still happy with my 4,1->5,1 W3680 internally expandable computer my only updates this year are software-related.

I just updated to FCPX 10.1. I had no trouble introducing the Library-structure over my existing Events and Projects.

I then tried exporting a movie I cut and exported yesterday. As I recall the export time yesterday, it was significantly longer than the export I did today after upgrading to FCP 10.1. In both cases the entire movie was rendered on the timeline before starting the export.

Could somebody BEFORE they update to 10.1 try exporting a movie (and time it), then do the FCP 10.1 update and then do a similar export of the same movie and time it again?

Would be great to get verification/rejection of my hypothesis, that 10.1 cuts the export time by a significant margin.

I can't confirm as I have already updated to 10.1, however from a gut feeling then it certainly feels faster on OSX 10.9.1 and FCP X 10.1 then 10.9 and FCP X 10.0.9, when exporting.

As one of the things touting for 10.1 is rewritten to take advantage of the GPU's available in the nMP then I suspect that is making more use of my GTX680.

As such whilst I cannot prove what you are seeing, it certainly feels faster to me as well.

Significantly faster exports in FCPX 10.1?

Sadly I didn't compare them, but it does seem to render a little faster. keep in mind I'm using the lowly HD 5870 1GB card.

I have significantly faster exports in Avid Media Composer 6.0 too. So fast they seemed to get lost and ended up in a Macpro thread instead on the Avid site!
