Bad time to build that deck!
"Lumber has surged from $250 per thousand board feet last year to over $900 today, amid an explosion in both homebuilding and buying."
That sucks. I lost my job a few days ago due to the pandemic and was thinking about building my kids a treehouse. Guess not!

Sorry to hear about the job. Hope something comes up soon.
Yeah, it’s not great. The main problem is we don’t have health insurance during a pandemic since my wife runs a daycare and she was on mine. Trying to figure things out. We have a decent savings and I’ve already started implementing my contingency plans for our budget. Kinda thinking about doing freelance full time, and maybe developing some of my app ideas. Just not an ideal climate to be testing the waters.

Good luck with it.

I'm glad my wife isn't the only one who does this haha.
My wife does that. I just told her today that we may have to buy a larger house just to store all the foods she's stockpiling. By the way, she also buys dehydrated foods that don't decay for a great number of years, but one must also have potable water to prepare them (she stockpiles water, too). It drives me a little crazy sometimes, but as long as she is happy I don't interfere :)

The military use to stockpile "military rations" that could be used years later. I remember the square-shaped metallic containers that had crackers and other foods inside. Some of these containers dated back to WWII.
