Basically the whole thread is saying that it's weird that there isn't a mirror silent option, when there is a mirror setting for everything else (DND, notification types etc)

So to do silent, you have to flip the button on your phone, and then press the same button again on the watch

But the phone is already in silent when I'm wearing the watch.

After a few more days I thought about another angle on this suggestion.

I've always appreciated the easily accessible silent mode on the iPhone via the switch. The  Watch isn't nearly as easy to silence, requiring me to flip up to access glances, and then flip over to the left all the way (sometimes, past 15 other glances) to get to the settings glance and finally tap silent.

How about if the silent button on the phone automatically switched the watch to silent? This way if you did use your phone in a meeting, it would already be silenced (notifications on the Phone aren't silenced when paired with the watch if the phone is unlocked) and it would be very easy to enable and disable silence on the watch.

Hi there, I am also missing that feature, Silent mode by the Button should be mirrored on the Watch also, and also it should be undone from the iPhone itself.

Hope Apple would consider this and add this feature in the next Watch OS

swype up from the bottom on your watch, press the bell. That stops sound from your Apple Watch, but notifications still come through.

edit: just realized the OP was from 2015

Is there any way to make notifications loud on iPhone when iWatch is muted?

turn the volume up on your phone? Leave your phone volume slider "on", do what I said above for your watch, and then just turn the volume up on your phone.

My A4 has been a bit wonky on notifications. Sometimes it does not keep up with my phone; others it works fine.

Generally it seems if I mute my phone, which is synced with the watch, I get just vibrations on the watch (and phone). Being on my wrist, I notice the watch vibrations 99% of the time.

That's generally how I use the combo. Works great: phone is essentially muted, and I rely on the watch for silent notifications.

Except when it does not work, which seems to vary in frequency around software updates.

AW updates seem to be often not quire ready for prime time.
