Silent mode not so silent

I have been a life long android user finally bought an iPhone spent an insanely amount on a phone I hate more everyday. First the keyboard auto correct doesn't work in my apps so I downloaded one that does. Now silent mode is not so silent spent over an hour with tech support to find out they don't know Jack squat.
I sleep with earbuds to help me sleep I work a very critical job I do not need my phone waking me up with a ear wrenching high pitch ringing in my ears because it allows someone in my contacts to go through.

Use the Sleep focus mode and make sure it's set so that no one can break through.

Turn the phone off overnight.

Unless you're wearing the earbuds for music or white noise, in which case turning it off is a stupid idea 🙂

Check if you've defined anyone as an emergency contact; defining a sleep focus, or using DND, should work ok.

In DND > People > make sure that "Allow repeated calls" has no check mark. Otherwise if someone calls a second time within 3 minutes, the call will come through.

It's quite a good feature really for emergencies globally. Or you can just customise it further and select under "People" who can break through the DND. This can also be customised for Apps and Notifications.

What they said and make sure no apps are allowed to notify, as per the image @kitKAC provided.

And depending on the Focus, Options > Silence Notifications > Always (think this is in all of them, it's just that I don't use the Apple pre-packaged ones [Driving, Sleep]).
