in pro tools, the playhead stops at the spot where the spacebar is pressed and continues from that spot when it is pressed again. in live, logic and cubase, the playhead always snaps back to wherever the beginning of the selection is. can this option be toggled in all these programs?

EDIT: refer to 2nd reply

I also want to get an interface with 8 preamps and am looking at all the presonus stuff. What is the difference quality wise between the firestudio project, fp10 and the old firepod. I may just get a firepod on ebay, is that a good idea? I don't really need anything more than an interface with 8 preamps that SOUNDS GOOD and don't really care about digital io or anything. also, are there other alternatives from other companies?

hm. in mine, playback always starts from where the "cursor" is, not from where it was last stopped/paused.

sorry, I got it all mixed up. yes pro tools plays from where the cursor is, and I just figured out that live does the same thing. logic and cubase however, start playback wherever the playhead was last stopped! the logic/cubase thing is annoying. is there a way to turn it off/on?

If you go into Pro Tools preferences --> Operation (or options? I don't have PT in front of me), there are check boxes on the left side. "Timeline insertion follows playback" is the box you want to look at. I forget if it needs to be checked or unchecked though.

Try it and let us know if that worked.

it's cubase and logic where I want to change it, not pro tools.

no one has ANYTHING to say about those interfaces?
