I was walking past the Chanel shop in South Kensington last night and spotted that they've got two iMacs in their window showing various Chanel slidewhows

But the iMacs are silver rather than white - and have a Chanel logo on the 'chin' rather than the Apple logo. I'm assuming that they may have been colour-wared or just professionally sprayed since they look like the silver is 'supposed' to be there.

I'll try to get a picture when I next pass that way - but has anyone else spotted them in any other Chanel store?

According to a friend of a friend in marketing at Chanel, they're only in the Kensington store and are not for sale.

I've asked for more info!

I have no idea, but I'm highly amused by 'chin'. Nerrr, your iMac's well Jimmy Hill. 😛

Sounds adorable.. and yes please, if you do get a chance to take pictures!

Here's the photo of them.... first thing I've wanted out of Chanel's window 😉

On close inspection, the silver has just been 'sprayed' on, there are a few imperfections around the bevel that no self-respecting MR member would put up with.

If they were being thrown in the skip after their days in the window, I think I could stomach a few imperfections. Expect them to probably end up on eBay as 'exclusive Chanel iMacs'.

I don't think thats an iMac. If I compare mine to that one, I see the chin is smaller on that, and the the screen is too close to the bottom of the "rectangle part".

Maybe they painted a silver frame and stuck that to the front of the iMac? That does make more sense....

I totally agree... the "chin" looks too small - and I have both a 17" and 20" iMac. This looks rather weird 😕

Nope... it looks like the silver was painted straight onto the normal white surface.

The lack of 'height' in the chin surprised me in the pictures - but it's definitely the right depth of screen to be the iMac. Although bear in mind that it's an older one since there ain't no iSight in it.

Could they be ADC's with Chanel frames made to look like iMac's? I can't see an optical drive slot and it looks bigger than 20" to me.

Oh and I just like to be the one to note that in the picture there's a pearl necklace just below the iMac's chin. Mmmmmmmmmm computer porn!

Sorry to burst your voyeuristic bubble... that's the purse strap. 😛

I saw these in the Chanel store in Barcelona. The only difference was that they were just white with the Chanel logo instead of silver.

I looked at them for a while and decided that they can't be iMacs though. The proportionals were all wrong. Must just be a shell.

G99, do you have a 17 inch model or a 20 inch model?

I agree. The computer seems too far down on its stand to be an iMac. I'm taking this from seeing my 20" iMac G5.
