There are a significant number of reports of issues with Sapphire scratches, scratches on DLC coatings and inconsistent product specifications - over multiple years.

Apple is ignoring the forums and ignoring user feedback, so I agree, as consumers we should exercise our rights and return products that don’t meet an acceptable standard.

Ok, well there is a few things that need clarifying here regarding the Bolded in your post, which has false premises behind it:

First, yes, there is no such thing as a perfect Apple Watch, they all are prone to scratching in some form or another, the DLC and sapphire is merely a protectant, but it’s not guaranteed to prevent damage.

Second, you made the comment that ‘Apple is ignoring the forums’, just so you’re aware, Apple has a privacy policy/procedure that they are not to participate on the tech forums las long as they are employed. Now, I don’t know if they read these forums, but in general, they are encouraged to avoid websites like this for many reasons.

So it’s most certainly not fair for you say ‘they’re ignoring the forums’, when their own employer advises them not to even participate/peruse tech platforms in general.

Lastly, They don’t ignore user feedback. I can certainly attest to that, being that I have personally printed off pages off At is very Apple Watch forum and sent them directly to a defect my Apple Watch experienced back in 2015 and guess what.....they acknowledged it and replaced my watch.

In order for Apple to actually knowledge user feedback, it has to be brought to their attention, the only way that happens is by submitting a complaint online or on the phone, and I guarantee you they do look into various problems, especially if there’s mass reports or the issue.

I got the SS silver was thinking about getting the silver Milanese band, was thinking it was going to be to bright. I had the SS Gold AW4. I might have to go for it.
The leather loop goes really well also, this is mine in saddle brown

I just picked up my series 6 Hermes Space black Noir & my wife picked up a series 6 in silver stainless steel , now I love the black on black of my space black Hermes but my god her silver stainless steel paired with the silver Milanese loop the way it shines looks way way more premium then mmy Hermes in space black (which cost $800 more)

I would probably be tempted to go silver stainless next time.

(p.s we both came from aluminium series 2)
I think it all depends on when you grew up. I was a kid back in the 80s and all the cheap watches were all black and cars that were base models had black bumpers and mirrors. Higher trim anything usually came in shiny chrome or gold. Nowadays, the "sports" trim of cars come with black trim. I had a S4 SBSS that I passed down to my wife which she loves. BUT my eyes also glaze over when I see the silver SS watches and I do accept the fact they will scratch with use as have all my SS mechanical watches I owned since I was a kid. Silver SS will always hold a place in my heart when I think of higher end watches, along with titanium.

I agree with you. My first Apple Watch was the SS0 with the Milanese loop..I now have the SS4 and still use the original Milanese loop. I have never turned the cellular on because I don’t need it but I love the look of the SS and how sturdy the glass is. Not to mention any band looks great with the SS.

It also depends if you want to wear the watch more like a jewelry or just a simple watch. For bling bling jewelry you have to go with silver or gold, because it just shines and fits better with earrings, rings and bracelets. Silver has the advantage and disadvantage of scratches/patina and making it shine again through polishing. That's why I went with silver and not gold, too.

Everyone else should go with Aluminium, SS Graphite or Titan.

When I grew up there was cheap plastic china chrome (toys etc.). So to me it sometimes also has some taste of cheap looking as it is very shiny, so is the gold version. I still love my silver SS!

You bring up some fair points. To clarify, my statement is specifically relating to the issues I mentioned "Sapphire scratches, scratches on DLC coatings and inconsistent product specifications - over multiple years." - not Apple's general policy towards customer engagement.

First, I never said there should be a perfect product. Rather my simple point is that these issues have been identified and have existed for an extended period of time. I don't think it's unfair to expect quality products, or improvements of faults from prior years.

Second, you are right that their employees are not allowed to participate, however, I can guarantee you that they have a team monitoring all social media channels including this forum and Reddit. They are fully aware of everything discussed... but I can't say whether that makes it to the engineering department.

Third, to believe that they are unaware of these issues you need to believe:
1) They aren't asking why people are returning their watches (for the scratch issues) - recall this isn't the first year this has happened - last year's issue was well known. Tons of people on these forums alone have identified these issues to Apple...
2) They have somehow missed all discussion on this topic across multiple social media outlets... for years...

Apple generally follows up on these issues or addresses them somehow, so why haven't they dealt with these ones? They could easily put a warning in with the product - they have done this before... or acknowledge the issue to their support staff so its easier for customers to get help.

Assuming this has been brought to their attention (either via returns, forums, or customer emails...), why have they not done anything?

They don't owe us an answer. They can choose to be silent and we can choose to return/exchange products that don't meet expectations - that's ok. So let's not judge anyone who choses to return their watch due to these issues.
