Feeling a bit meh about the new starlight colour option replacing the traditional Apple silver…

What’s your feelings on it, personally I hate the tone of starlight and reminds me of a washed out light gold sort of colour…

I just have a feeling the traditional Apple silver will be reserved for Pro devices going forward along with a deeper black (than the space grey).

Is it just a warm silver? Kind of vintage Neumann microphone feel I'm okay with.
I feel it’s more like a washed out champagne, it a weird colour choice and something I would definitely have to see in person.

I am really gutted as I wanted the iPad mini in the traditional Apple silver… but I presume silver is a pro only colour from now on …

We will see, because I just purchased it. I'm tired of Space Gray being unpredictably different on every device.

I actually ordered it today and I ended up canceling my order and ordered the pink unfortunately I just think it’s too beige for me

if these are legit new iPhone 13's heres what starlight looks like on the iPhones, though they do have glass backing where the iPads are aluminum:

i'll have to see it in person as well, really wanted white/silver as the 'space gray' and black options are seeming dated and are different from device to device as mentioned.

Same here, I'm disappointed. If they absolutely had to get rid of a traditional color, they could've axed the space gray instead of the ever timeless silver. As much as I love purple, I think I've would've preferred it as a case color for contrast instead of as a color for the whole thing. I think I'll be happy enough with it when I finally see it in person, but silver is still my first preference.

I'm not a fan of the starlight color on the ipad. Again, it might look better in person, but I don't like yellow and dislike almost all the gold colors on various apple products. The only gold that actually looks okay to me is the shiny gold on the iphone 13 pro, and I still like it less than the blue and silver.

Just purchased the iPad Mini 6 and 2nd gen. pencil! I went for Space Grey and then people order Starlight including Leo of Twit.tv so I changed to Starlight too! :)

I like the Starlight, ordered one. Gray is old and boring and thats not real purple or pink. More like a really light lilac and the pink is more like, I don't even know.

I'm quite disappointed about this. First world problems, I know, but what I find profoundly baffling to me is that they decided to axe silver, yet keep space gray! So now the mini is completely out of the loop within the entire iPad family and now is the only iPad product to not have silver.

Apple decided to replace black/space gray and white/silver on both the iPhone and Apple Watch with Midnight and Starlight, and that's wonderful because now there is true color consistency of the same exact finishes on both those products to match, something we haven't seen since iPhone 8/iPhone X and Apple Watch Series 3 in 2017. But the iPad mini doesn't inherit Midnight to go against Starlight, instead deciding to keep space gray, which in the end doesn't make too much sense to me.

I have Starlight on pre-order but now thinking of cancelling to get the space gray...

Starlight is new and fresh and will look fabulous on the mini.
Maybe, but the more I see of it the less I think I’ll like it in person. Looks like how my silver devices look in a clear TPU case when it starts yellowing! I’m actually more concerned about them changing from Silver to Starlight for the Apple Watch. It sealed the deal for me to not upgrade from my 5. If I don’t like an iPad color I can just put it into a different case, can’t do that with the watch.

Well to me it definitely looks like a washed out gold colour in comparison to the silver…

really gutted they went with the decision to scrap gold… but to me I think with the iPhone 13 and iPad mini they are probably testing the water with the colour before bringing it to future products (like the new MacBook Air etc)…

But seriously, I'm baffled why "Starlight" is different between the iPad mini (beige?), Apple Watch (champagne?) and the iPhone 13 (milky?)

Tim seems to have a war on Silver.

I'm sure! The thing is I had passed on the Titanium when I got my 5 because it also seemed to be more yellowish than I wanted. Don't think I ever checked it out if it changed for the 6.

Seems like a few companies are kinda phasing out the classic Silver. My Tesla Model 3 was the light Silver Metallic and shortly after I bought it they phased out that color and then phased it out on the S and X as well. I was hoping they would bring it back when they came out with the Y but they didn't, so went with the Pearl White. Still would have preferred the classic lighter Silver.

What bothers me is that all mini 6 colors except space gray are warm/reddish colors (starlight, purple, pink). I'd like something light and clear/crisp.

It’s bad enough that Apple stopped offering white/light bezels with the newer designs.

I miss the white bezel too. I found it much easier to read on it with a white bezel. I think they want to make the screen look as wide as possible now. The dark bezel might be good for movies though.

I was going to 100% order a mini 6 once it was announced, and I've always gone for brighter colours (never been a fan of dark / black on iPads or iPhones).

When they revealed the colours I kind of couldn't believe it. Where's the traditional silver? Why not have some more fun colours like the new iMad? Imagine Yellow, orange, green, etc.

Thankfully more I look at starlight I do kind of like it. Not usually a fan of champagne or gold myself, but starlight has a bit of a stone or more natural look compared to silver. We'll see I guess.

Always take spacegray, so i wanted something new.

I liked the way it looks in the folio, which is how i‘m gonna use it 99% of the time. That’s why i took this color this time around.

Meh. Just based on the renders, I’m getting a flashback to THIS, which I always thought looked dirty, or maybe it just WAS dirty from all the cigarette smoke in my office back then:
