i know i must be getting annoying now since i dunno how many question threads i have made now :p lol...but then again im still in my "comparing macs phase so i will have a mac soon"
heres my questions:
1)i have an LG 16x dvd rom drive, what would i have to do to get it to work on a powermac (either than putting it into the slot) as in getting it to work with the dvd player and such...
2) how would i format my ntfs 40 gig drive so it would work on the powermac as a hsf/hsf+ drive....these 2 ?s are only if i get a powermac
3) would a regular vga monitor work with a powermac? this is what im thinking of getting (even tho it doesnt say its not mac compatible): http://www.compusmart.com/product.a...howPriceFlag=1&PriceFilter=400&CurrentPage=2&

4) would an average HP usb scanner work with a mac (twain) since i hear jaguar has twain support now, or would i have to buy a new scanner?
5) how much ram should i get put in the mac as soon as i get it?
6) would it be advisable to get the 867 (the 867 has everything i want/need (ie: speed, high cap of ram, dual processors, dual drive support, ability to change vid cards (which i cant do on my peecee cuz its integrated :()) or should i just get an emac/g4 imac? and if i should get an emac/imac, which one should i get?
7)would it be good to buy soon or buy in january?

thanx :)

1) look up that drive on xlr8.com's website and see user experience

2) just format it in fat32 instead of NTFS and you will be able to read and write it. if you need it to be HFS then you will have to back it up and format it with a mac. (unless you want to go thru hassles with pc macFS progs)

3) yes

4) yes

5) at LEAST 384, i say no less that 512

6) for longevity purposes, the pmac, for first mac purposes, the iMac

7) the sooner you get a Mac the happier u will be

thanx :), thats bout all i think i needed to know, im wanting a powermac more than the imac but a powermac may be a lil too expensive for me...

and i looked around at xlr8 site and i couldnt find anything for LG dvd rom drives :( but i'll try looking again

ya i know wha u meant dont worry :p, i tried looking there for stuff on LG dvd roms but no luck so far

[edit]put in less fields for the search n found some results :D

it looks like i doubt im gonna get a powermac tho :(, i'll probably end up with an emac tho cuz i talked to my dad bout it...but my uncle might be getting a job for compusmart (canadian computer retailer) and how much would a family discount usually be (if there are any family discounts (in cdn $))?
