Can I take any iPad and remove a old sim that isn't used anymore and buy a new one for different provider service at like amazon or anywhere ?

Or does it have to be a certain sim card?

I thought iPads were never sim locked.

As long as it the micro SIM. You may have to call your provider and give them the SIM number of the card you bought, so that it activated properly.

It is actually better to get a sim card from the provider you want to use. They usually give it free of charge.

You can even take it to one of their stores, tell them you want to activate it and get a sim from them right then and there.
