Hello. My daughter just got a new iPhone at boost Mobile. When she got the phone they kept her old Sim card in her old iphone and put a new one in her new iphone. I am going to be ordering an iphone myself. I was thinking about going directly through Apple. Will they ship with a new Sim card or do I use my old one? Is it better to have a new Sim card from the start? Thanks.

If your new phone is 5G, it is best to get a new SIM from your carrier, so that your phone can make better use of 5G. If you don't care about that aspect, put in your old SIM and it should work fine.

Depends. But if you buy a sim-free model, it does not come with a sim card, and you'll need to get that from the carrier.

Not sure if it’s the same in the US, but for us in Canada, Apple stores will give a SIM card for free at time of purchase or if you order online, you can come into a store and ask for one. It will scan as a $0 item.

What carrier are you with? If you have T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint or Verizon, you can choose that carrier when you order from Apple and it will come with a new SIM card. If you are with boost mobile, you can pick up a new SIM card in store. Not sure if they charge, however.

You only get a SIM card with your phone if you purchase from Apple an AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, or Verizon phone. Since your daughter is using Boost, you’d just have to use her old SIM card or obtain a new one if you want to use the 5G service. The old one should work fine, though.
