I am planning on picking up a SIM free iPhone 7 to use on AT&T today. Does anybody know if the SIM free model will prevent me from picking up bands that the AT&T specific model supports. I know that the AT&T specific model is GSM only, but I'm wondering if I am missing something as to why there are two different models in the first place.

Thanks

SIM free model supports the same things that the GSM model does (plus more for CDMA support).

No, you will not lose any frequencies used by AT&T with the sim free model.
You will also gain the CDMA capabilities if you decide to switch later or sell it to a broader audience.
