When I look at the iPhone X store page, I don't see a SIM free option. Which has me kind of irked. There was such an option listed for iPhone 8 before it opened for pre-order, so this doesn't bode well...

We've got a few weeks. I suggest those of us interested in an SIM free option get some feedback to Apple that we're not happy being tied to a carrier.
Regarding the X,I called Apple this afternoon and all they would say is "Stay Tuned".They have no clue.

If I were Apple, I would have some kind of fanclub (ok, fanboy club...) subscription service. Here's how it works, if you spent $X,000 on Apple products in the past 3 years, you can join the club, and you get token benefits like free iCloud 50 GB, some exclusive emojis, some email newsletter from Tim Cook, etc. What you also get is the opportunity to cut to the front of the line to pre-order ONE (and only ONE) phone or watch per year, which will be the SIM free model. This way Apple gets their product in the hands of their biggest supporters and probably avoids most scalping.

I don't know if they will ever do it, we're the minority here -- people willing to pay $999+ cash for a phone on launch day. But don't think your voice (and money) isn't valuable, let Apple know that you want to buy their product (if they would only sell it to you without having to jump through Verizon's hoops).

So, people using prepaid services such as Straight Talk won’t be able to purchase an iPhone X at launch? I see that the Verizon iPhone 8 now requires your wireless number information.

Yep for Verizon model, it requires your Verizon account info in order to purchase. I'm wondering if they will do the reservation system like they did last year and the year before that.

I'm also seeing T-Mobile works following your instructions. Too bad it doesn't support CDMA.

My T-Mobile iPhone 8 plus supports CDMA, anyone else? I am currently using it with Verizon due to not having my Pixel paid off yet on my business account and having T-mobile for my personal account.
