In general (5S and 6 releases) the people that bought the Verizon phone couldn't cancel until 14 days after they started service so your best bet (unless you're planning on using the Japanese lines) is to just buy the T-Mobile outright as it works on all US carriers besides Sprint
If I remember correctly, it was unlocked at purchase. Last year, somebody did the math and paying out of the contract was actually cheaper by about $50 to go through the process with Verizon, but it does seem like a hassle. So it's completely unlocked? Verizon won't give me a hard time when tryin to activate it?

No, its not completely unlocked for some people

Oh I didn't realize you were talking about the T-Mobile version. That one is completely unlocked if you buy it from Apple and then you can head on over to Verizon, buy a SIM and you'll be fineI meant the T-mobile version. I don't really need it to be unlocked internationally. I just wanna know if the T-mobile version will work on Verizon and I wanna make sure I will have no issue activating it on Verizon.
Seems to be more of an exception than the rule.I would be VERY hesitant to buy a Verizon 6 right now. The one I just sold was locked internationally to the buyer.
SIM-Free is also white-listed on Verizon and Sprint.
I've come across something like this before, but I have yet to see anything official in relation to it. Was there some press release or something else of that nature that covers it?every single iPhone 6 and 6 plus ever sold as long as its unlocked and you bought it in the US ( i just want to say that because i am not sure heh ) , regardless of the day you bought it, is now whitelisted for verizon as of last week. sprint requires the sim free model., because it has the 4 extra sprint channels
verizon opened up all the iPhone 6 and 6 plus phones and no longer requires verizon models
you don't have to use a "pre activated sim card" like i had to do in september 2014, they will activate the phone, no questions asked.
so if you want to try verizon and your sick of AT&T or if you want to switch from t-mobile and try out verizon, be my guest, go right ahead. you do not have to buy a new iPhone 6, it just has to be unlocked
I want to buy the Verizon iPhone, but I have a feeling that I won't be able to just purchase it outright. What I'm planning on doing is just opening a Verizon account on the Device payment plan and once I get the phone I will just call Verizon and cancel the account. I hope this works.

Strange that it's limited to just those models, but at least it's a start.i cant find the press release. here is one of the links

you can test this by entering in a launch day iPhone 6, like mine into their imei checker and it will come back as a valid device
yeah, thats why I'm being forced to open an account with Verizon if they don't offer the SIM-free version or the option to buy the Verizon iphone. I have read that the T-mobile version works on Verizon, but I'm hesitant about buying the T-mobile iPhone.

I was under the impression that the 5s (if not the 5c as well) didn't do that either.its limited to the iPhone 6 and the 6 plus because they didn't disable the CDMA radio like every other LTE GSM unlocked iPhone sold before september 2014

I don't think you will be able to purchase a VZW or AT&T device on the Apple site without providing some sort account credentials, either. So buying 'outright' would automatically be the T-Mobile version or the SIM free. I'm buying mine outright as well and I hope Apple will have the SIM free version at launch but most likely they won't.
