I would be VERY hesitant to buy a Verizon 6 right now. The one I just sold was locked internationally to the buyer.

In general (5S and 6 releases) the people that bought the Verizon phone couldn't cancel until 14 days after they started service so your best bet (unless you're planning on using the Japanese lines) is to just buy the T-Mobile outright as it works on all US carriers besides Sprint

So it's completely unlocked? Verizon won't give me a hard time when tryin to activate it?

If I remember correctly, it was unlocked at purchase. Last year, somebody did the math and paying out of the contract was actually cheaper by about $50 to go through the process with Verizon, but it does seem like a hassle.

I believe that was with the 2 year contracts. They're not doing that anymore with new customers. I was planning on opening a new account and then closing it as soon as I got the phone and then paying it off to Verizon.

I meant the T-mobile version. I don't really need it to be unlocked internationally. I just wanna know if the T-mobile version will work on Verizon and I wanna make sure I will have no issue activating it on Verizon.
Oh I didn't realize you were talking about the T-Mobile version. That one is completely unlocked if you buy it from Apple and then you can head on over to Verizon, buy a SIM and you'll be fine

SIM-Free is also white-listed on Verizon and Sprint.

every single iPhone 6 and 6 plus ever sold as long as its unlocked and you bought it in the US ( i just want to say that because i am not sure heh ) , regardless of the day you bought it, is now whitelisted for verizon as of last week. sprint requires the sim free model., because it has the 4 extra sprint channels

verizon opened up all the iPhone 6 and 6 plus phones and no longer requires verizon models

you don't have to use a "pre activated sim card" like i had to do in september 2014, they will activate the phone, no questions asked.

so if you want to try verizon and your sick of AT&T or if you want to switch from t-mobile and try out verizon, be my guest, go right ahead. you do not have to buy a new iPhone 6, it just has to be unlocked

I've come across something like this before, but I have yet to see anything official in relation to it. Was there some press release or something else of that nature that covers it?

I want to buy the Verizon iPhone, but I have a feeling that I won't be able to just purchase it outright. What I'm planning on doing is just opening a Verizon account on the Device payment plan and once I get the phone I will just call Verizon and cancel the account. I hope this works.

as of last week you never have to buy a verizon phone. go right ahead and use any unlocked iPhone 6 or 6 plus, it does not matter whose phone it was sold for, verizon will allow it on their network

yeah, thats why I'm being forced to open an account with Verizon if they don't offer the SIM-free version or the option to buy the Verizon iphone. I have read that the T-mobile version works on Verizon, but I'm hesitant about buying the T-mobile iPhone.

don't worry about it , go right ahead, i am personally inviting you to be my guest

I'm the one that originally posted about how verizon allows t-mobile phone back in septemeber 2014
back then you needed a sim from another phone

now you don't

if you don't believe me, have verizon check the imei

but i do recommend you buying the sim free. because it will work on sprint

you need to worry about buying the phone from AT&T or t-mobile outright!!!! they will sell you the phone LOCKED out of the box!! and you will have to submit to an unlock request before you could switch it to vzw

if you want it unlocked outside the box you have to buy it directly from apple

Strange that it's limited to just those models, but at least it's a start.

its limited to the iPhone 6 and the 6 plus because they didn't disable the CDMA radio like every other LTE GSM unlocked iPhone sold before september 2014

I was under the impression that the 5s (if not the 5c as well) didn't do that either.

yes. what i said was every single unlocked lte gsm based iPhone that apple ever made ( including the 5, 5c and 5s) would not work on verizon because the cdma radio was disabled. the iPhone 6 changed everything. they did not disable the cdma radio. so it was compatible with verizon, but verizon was wishy washy and they did not like the serial numbers

that has changed last week and now every single iPhone 6 no matter if its a January 2015 one or a September one 2014 is a happy iphone and can be activated on verizon, as long as its not carrier locked by AT&T or T-Mobile or Sprint

you guys are wasting your time writing letters to try to convince apple to enable the Fm radio. you guys should be writing letters to the companies that make the 1 billion android phones to stop disabling the CDMA

There is always the hope that Apple will finally release a single model iPhone that works on all bands and we can dispense with the complicated matter of buying the right iPhone for the right lifestyle. Releasing a particular model for a particular market doesn't seem to slow down the resellers.

Look do what you want but do NOT listen to people who say "you cant do this". Many people, including myself, have walked in to the Apple store in the first couple days and walked out with a full price Verizon phone as long as stock is available. No credentials or any thing else needed. And I am a TMo customer. I basically was willing to buy the Verizon or TMo unit and grabbed the first one they hand.

I don't think you will be able to purchase a VZW or AT&T device on the Apple site without providing some sort account credentials, either. So buying 'outright' would automatically be the T-Mobile version or the SIM free. I'm buying mine outright as well and I hope Apple will have the SIM free version at launch but most likely they won't.

You think wrong sir. Try it this time.
