First of all, some information about my situation.
I want to be able, every now and then, to handle and make some very basic operations in mysql database for a wordpress site,
like a simple edit, export/import etc.

All years I use phpmyadmin. But as you all know, there are several limitations.
Not about main functionality, but all these restrictions, like import file size, or timeout limits etc.
So, every time I update my local server (currently mamp, but I am also searching for alternative options),
I have to take care about modifications in order to bring back functionality to phpmyadmin.

So, in this topic, I want to ask questions about phpmyadmin,
but also ask for alternative option in mac applications, that they do not have the initial limitations of phpmyadmin.
I used navicat in the past, but I really find it too big and too overloaded, hey, I am not a developer, I do not want to be lost in so many options in order to do the simple and basic things.

---
So lets start.

I have already increased import sizes in 128mb in phpmyadmin by modifying php.ini,
but when I import a compressed sql/zip file of just 22mb,
it cannot handle it. It cannot complete it.
It did it successfully until recently.
I have to go to wordpress site, delete hundreds of posts (!), to manually reduce the total filesize,
and then I re-downloaded mysql db, and then phpmyadmin could finally do the import with a compressed database filesize of 21,9mb.
Any ideas for bypassing this limitation?

Also suggest me applications for simple and plain mysql administration without bells and whistles, something friendly and straightforward.
