Hear me out, this will sound weird.

With working from home, I use Windows, and often communicate, via iMessage, with a few people. This is local, Atlanta, GA, and International conversations.

Years ago, I owned an iMac 27". Sold it ages ago. Due to the volume of iMessage conversations, and possibly more FaceTime conversation, I wanted to add a 'simple' Mac, to my office setup.

Curious on suggestions for a Mac of choice? Hmm, or, should I just use an iPad in my setup? Might be considerably cheaper, no?

I'd agree that an iPad would be the simplest choice for iMessage and FaceTime.
And probably get one with a keyboard. Thus, the iPad can 'stand' and be ready an available on my desk (in my work area)...

Currently using a friend's MBA Early 2015.
Tempted with the M1, but still on the fence about it. Not looking to spend a fortune.
