Hey all. I have to say I HATE what Apple has done with the music app in their latest OS. It now takes me 5 minutes of hunting just to do the simplest things I used to do.

SO. My question is, can you folks recommend to me a simple music app that I can use to do the basic things like play my music and playlists easily? Apple's new music app is so bloated with 'connect' this and 'connect' that, and a ton of other bling that I'll never use, that I long for just a music app that plays my music and playlists without running off the highway digging through menus to do the simple things it used to...

Anyway, sorry for the mini-rant, but I'm really hating that Apple has lost the 'simple' and 'intuitive' they used to be known for.

This seems to be a rant for rants sake? The music app has new features but still behaves as it always did. What functionality do you no longer have and what possible takes 5 minutes? You click "my music" and well that is pretty much it.

Forbes:
Having installed it and played around with it myself I’m slowly coming to the conclusion that Apple has started to lose its way with the user experience. What was once a mobile operating system built on the ethos that everyone could use it, whether it was a 5 year old to a 95 year old, has become an OS awash with tricks and gimmicks and unnecessary design tweaks for the sake of incremental progress.

CNET:
The app's design is cluttered with too much information and difficult to navigate.

InfoWorld:
The new Music, released this week as part of iOS 8.4 and iTunes 12.2, is a hot mess: difficult to navigate, full of ad-like banners that get in the way of accessing your music, yet another attempt (called Connect) to introduce social networking with musicians (really band marketing) that'll go into the same black hole as Ping did some years ago, and above all an attempt to get you to stream your music for a fee from the new Apple Music service that was retrofitted from the Beats Audio technology Apple bought last year.

So you're basing your opinion on idiots who can't figure out a simple app?

You can ignore all the Apple Music stuff and go into My Music and Playlists just like before. Plus just about everything has been made easier. If it takes you 5 minutes to play a playlist then you probably should just get a flip phone and call it a day.

It's not great, but in my opinion it's much better than the previous era of Music apps.
