Hello,

I'm new to having both Macs and PC's on my home network, but I have one quick question.

When wanting to connect to a computer from a Windows based PC, you can open a browser and type in \\<name of computer> and you are able to connect. Is there a similar way to do on a Mac?

I'm asking the question because I have a program I'm using WebUI in and I don't want to set a static IP on my Windows PC, so I would love if I could just type in <name of pc><port>.

Thanks in advance.

Start the Finder. Click "Go" . . "Connect to Server".

I use smb://system-name/share-name

to connect to a shared folder on my Win 7 PC from my Macbook Pro.
