I guess I should have added that given that I'm in CA, my ability to avoid sales tax is a bit trickier, so I guess depending on what the options ad specs are, I might be able to order from B&H or some place like that. But I'm not exactly hopeful.

Same with me. I tried every option, but can not avoid it. I live in IL and work in MN - can't avoid tax with MacMall or Apple. Checked out Amazon, but their current price for 2.7/16GB/768GB is higher than Apple and I'm not comfortable buying from an external dealer.

I have student discount, so that will have to do.

My best option is to buy from Apple.com and either ship/mail because I get frequent flyer points.

Online. I ain't walking out of the Providence place Apple store with a $2000 machine in a bright white Apple bag

I thought about that, too. Walking downtown Chicago with $5,000 worth of apple goodness. I think I'll just drive downtown and pick it up myself even though I can take the bus. Not smart to walk around with a "Rob Me" sign.

Not sure how CA works but B&H always works for me. No sales tax (outside of NY), Free shipping, $80-100 cheaper on all models to offset Apple's educational discount, a free copy of Parallels. They also eventually get stock BTO machines with different configurations available to ship immediately. Plus, it's B&H for great peace of mind.

I never buy any electronics retail anymore. Haven't for years.

Does anyone know if Amazon sells the MBP the same day as announcement? If not does anyone have a estimated timeline in which they would sell it?

Thanks! :D

I'll be getting a custom configuration, so I'll have to order online. But haven't decided whether I'll get it shipped or pick up at the store.

Probably from amazon or macmall, no sales tax, free shipping plus additional 5% cashback with my discover card :D
Better check that Amazon hasn't started charging sales tax in your state.

Remember, you may no longer have a sales tax savings from Amazon.

The no sales tax from Amazon ends at the end of October, correct?
Depends on what state you're in. They've started charging sales tax in more states in the past few months.

IL still good :) Although the allure of this "Apple Store" experience is making me want to get it. (This is my first Apple purchase, and all I've heard from my people is that you MUST buy it from the Apple Store. :p)

if there are 15" 16GB igpu (iris pro) available in the shop then i will get it wed morning in aus, if i have to go with base to get igpu only and if the base has 8gb i will BTO to get 16gb (i don't want the dgpu for battery / lack of need reasons), that is unless they put a dgpu in all of them, i also dont care about storage space
