The display still isn't HD, so it would probably be wasteful.

I know that I saw this posted, but I do not remember if it was answered though. It would be great if someone would be able to answer it. 🙂

In my head, it does not make much sense to be able to record in HD, if you are unable to view said recording in HD. 😉

Well, the iPad and its A4 can decode HD video, so I don't see why the new iPhone wouldn't be able to.
