I plan on buying a iphone 4 on July 14th because thats my upgrade date...now im wondering if i can just make a reservation/appointmnet online for the genius bar and buy an iphone at the time of my choosing....

Depends on store location and many other factors.
You SHOULDN'T have a problem but no one here can say yes or no for sure.

The simple answer, is yes. The only factors would be reservation, as in "the time of my choosing", and device availability.

Wait a few weeks and then reserve one at an Apple store or purchase one online and avoid all the BS by having it shipped to you.

I found it faster and easier to have the phone shipped to me.

ok thanks everybody. As far as time of my choosing, i mean any time they have open on that day the 14th....i dont want it shipped to my house because i work all day. so what i want to do is set up a appointment for the genius bar via apple.com and go in to get a phone...

All I had to do is open my fedex box and plug my iphone 4 to itunes.

didnt they raise all the upgrade dates (within 6 months) up?

you should not have a problem reserving, if you really worried wait an extra day or two after that.

but you may be able to get it earlier

they only raised them if you were on an iPhone before June 7th
so anybody who wasn't using/didn't own an iPhone didn't get the bump
