Do you think the iPhone’s got boring?

I love the interaction between all of my Apple devices:

Keychin
Bookmarks
Call forwarding
Etc.

Basically, I personally feel that the only real plus to the iPhone is iCloud. Other than that, it’s just boring at this point.

I’d love to get an S23 (can buy one when I want) but I’m so tied into Apple’s so called echo system that it would be a pain in the arse to switch phones.

Not boring. Just routine, as in everything just works seamlessly. Good because I don't look for excitement in my mobile. I want reliability and familiarity. I like simple processes for things like scanning to PDF, saving and sharing files, etc. AirDrop is huge for me.

I don't do much social media - I believe it's a virus. While social media's initial purpose was noble and useful, what it's become is nowhere near those original lofty goals. I have an Instagram account and I follow one DJ and several firearms manufacturers. I had a Facebook account years ago, but only because my son's wrestling team disseminated all their match into via FB. Once he graduated I shut that **** down.

I use my camera primarily for work, cataloging equipment and documenting problems. I'll also immortalize a few moments from vacation and travel.

I like how iMessage conversations are carried over from my iPhone to my iMac and MacBook Air. Email and Calendar date too.

Do you get bored with your screwdriver? How about your wrenches? Hammer? Scissors? Knife?

You get bored eating with utensils and just use your hands?

If you answer yes to any of these questions about tools then yes, the iPhone is boring.

As for me, if my tools break, I buy another one. But I don't get bored with them. Tools are there for a purpose.

The iPhone is a tool. Just like any other tool.

What did you want for excitement? I mean for me it's just a phone and portable computer for entertainment. What do you think a Samsung phone is going to do that the iPhone isn't? It sounds like some marketing ad has wowed you. Granted, you have more customization on android so you can make it pretty or whatever features you want and if that's important, then you have to do you have to decide if that is important to you. I won't say that's a bad thing because everyone has different priorities as to what is important to them. For me, iPhone is about function so they don't put stuff that’s useless to me that is going to get in the way of reliability or performance

I’d love to get an S23 (can buy one when I want) but I’m so tied into Apple’s so called echo system that it would be a pain in the arse to switch phones.

I don't agree with the idea of "I'm in this walled garden so I can't" philosophy. It's a phone so you either take the SIM out or talk to your carrier to switch. You can even get Apple Music on android. There's an app to move your contacts, but seriously even if you had to do that by hand how hard is that? I'm not saying you don't feel this way, but I think that's an illusion put out by companies and repeated by people so they won't switch. If you feel you want to get an android phone go do it. Why would you use something you don't like just because you feel it might be too hard. I like my iPhone, but when it comes to the point I want to try something different, I'm going to do that

no.
the iPhone is a tool as @eyoungren perfectly lays out above.

So, please get your S23 and then in 6 months tell us how it has become boring, or not. and also I suggest a full immersion into the Google world by getting a Chromebook, some android tablet and also an android smart watch

^^^Second that. Seems to be a theme that people who really don't want to work or move use as an excuse.

Mail - IMAP
Messages - SMS/MMS
Contacts/Calendars/Notes/Reminders - Google, Yahoo or some other cross platform service
Photos/Videos - Dropbox, Google or another third party
Apps - Google Play store
Music - Any of a bazillion music services/apps that are out there already

And bonus - iMessage on Android, see AirMessage

People just don't want to do the work to not be owned by Apple.

I like this poll thing but do we really have 116.6% participation? 🤣

The "excitement" with Android seems to be figuring out how to make features work that perform perfectly on iOS. I go waaaaay back and recall trying to get email to work reliably on the Symbian OS, desktop sync to work reliably between Palm and my Macintosh. Once I got a BlackBerry most of those headaches were solved, although they still presented small challenges for us Mac users. Now, however, I am so done with all of that. I just want something that works reliably between iOS and MacOS. iPhone FTW!

Having said all that, if I could get a BlackBerry running BB7 to work with Verizon I'd drop my iPhone like third period French. :)
