My Mac Pro will be arriving today/tomorrow and I'm going to want to access my Powerbook through Remote Desktop (when I'm home), and I'm also going to want to control my Mac Pro with my Powerbook (when I'm away). So the question is: can I have the the ARD admin software installed on both controlling each other (not simultaneously obviously).

yes, you just have to set it up in the ARD section on network on each machine,
you just tick the boxes for allow control, allow watching ECT, then enter the password of the machines in ARD
