Simple Safari question?

When I add a bookmark for some reason I can't see how to add it to the Fave bar?? When I used to add a bookmark Im sure it was an option but its not now??

Merely drag URL to "Favorites Bar" in column on left.

Don't have that option. Its on my rMBP that arrived yesterday if that makes a difference?

It's a progression of dropdowns on Bookmarks in the Menu. Was not / am not at my Mac, but I'm pretty sure I'm remembering it correctly, although for Firefox. I am so used to Safari being my browser, I literally forgot that I switched to Firefox recently.

If you click on "Add Bookmark" another dropdown will appear, giving you options as to where to save/place bookmark.
