I am waiting on my Sena Slimline case and a Wrapsol Ultra; The Wrapsol will solve the issue in regards to the reception problem; I understand, it's really a fix on the consumers part and Apple should be held to the carpet as it's really their issue. In the mean time, I just discovered a simple solution: I cut a strip of clear packing tape the width of the sides of the phone and less drop off; I dropped from 5 bars to 4. Give it a try...

+1

i had an extra invisible shield left over from my 3GS..
i cut parts from the top and bottom of the Invisible Shield to fit the sides of the phone where the issue occurs.

Seems to insulate well, and i lose one/two bars when holding it but it doesnt drop to zero like it did before.

not to downgrade any of your "fixes" even though they are great solutions, but don't you guys think its ridiculous to have to put tape or some kind of covering over a part of a 200-700 dollar piece of new hardware? its obscene that it has come down to this

Didn’t you hear? The factory was supposed to install the tape, but someone messed up the order. Apple plans to sell us Apple Tape™ for $10 (cheaper than the bumpers).:D

For the time being, while Apple gets off their cans, so that I don't suffer under the obvious duress; this is the short fix.

*You know, you can call a lawyer and file a class action suit against Apple if you want; it's a free country! Based upon Job's comment initially, it may take that.

Time will tell......

Would this void the warranty? You are installing on the phone something that's not available through the app store. :D

It probably will. I am not angry over the issue. This happens every year, some issue initally comes up. Hell look at the evo during its launch:

http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/13/htc-evo-suffering-from-glass-separation-issues/

http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2010/06/14/htc-evo-screens-having-quality-control-issues/

If he took the approach on stating: We recognize the problem and plan to follow up with an update on Monday to see if this corrects the issue.
If this were stated then I would laugh at people complaining and would take offence to people complaining on a company that is in the business of helping to preserve quality in there products.

OH NO he decides to make it a NON ISSUE and apple acts like we are annoying them and hurting there precious ego. THATS MY ISSUE.

I use my headphones (headset) to talk on my phone and my phone sits in my pocket. Never have had the drop call problem that way since I'm not gripping it. I only hold it when I'm using apps, but usually no 3G service then, haha.

It beats whining about it on MR which accomplishes nothing.

I went to BB this morning and bought an iFrogz Luxe Lean, problem solved.

i agree 100%! But i too placed tape on my phone Thursday when i got my iphone. I want to be able to actually use my device until a fix comes along.

What is even more ridiculous is most of us bought the phone knowing the problem existed.

I can speak only for myself, but i bought the phone knowing of the problem and expect a well respected company like apple to have a solution for me the customer.

-cheers
