I just finished working on a project on iMovie and have exported it onto my desktop. I want to put it on YouTube, but they only allow 15 minute videos. My video is 23 minutes long so I am thinking I just will split it in half and have a part 1 and 2 on YouTube. The file is a .M4V file, anyone know of any quick ways to just split it in half and make 2 separate files? Thanks!

QuickTime Player. If you have OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), QuickTime X has a Trim feature under the Edit menu.

QuickTime Player 7 Pro can also do this task. I'm not sure about the non-pro version but look under its Edit menu for Trim to Selection.

What I'd do is create two copies of the file, trim the first one for the first half and then trim the second one for the second half. Clean up as needed and that allows you to keep the 23 minute version for you self.
