I have started using Quiver and quite like it. I only need text sync, and a single image here or there, and it suits my needs. It syncs through Dropbox or iCloud, is quite customizable, and for programmers it has these cool blocks where you can write code of various kinds with automatic markup. And it is a one time buy.. :)

No iOS release yet though.

I moved all my notes to OneNote some time ago as I felt that EverNote no longer represented good value, nor offered key functionality, that clearly has been more than affirmed. OneNote for my use has no significant battery usage, even on the 12" Retina Macbook.

As for EverNote, like as not they will be absorbed or just die out, current pricing is amusing at best, tragic at the worst (for EverNote)

I've tried out most of them. My requirements are - it has to work on any device that I use. I've settled on Google Keep and Google Docs for my stuff for now. It's working, it's cheap, and even though I like OneNote a lot, I already have years and years of data in Google, so I'll probably stay.

From Need To Access iCloud On Your Android? We Can Help! (2014-05-01):

… Fortunately, syncing your notes from Apple’s very useful Notes app with your Android account is simple, though it does come with some limitations. …

Has anyone tried Google Keep, I saw it a few days ago, …

I installed it on Android a few months ago, when I first began using my YotaPhone 2, but never found a reason to test it. Without thinking of multiple devices, I occasionally used YotaNotes.

This morning I added my first thing to Google Keep on Android, found it in the web interface in Firefox on Kubuntu. Simple, neat.

Many months have passed since my last use of Apple Notes.

Today I found an unanswered question, Sync Google Keep to Apple Notes. If I don't add an answer there, I might have something alternative for this topic.

Surprisingly, I'm pretty satisfied with apples notes app. Only downfall is its not supported on non Apple devices.

You can sync Apple Notes with other Cloud Services, not just iCloud. I sync mine with my Gmail account. When you setup the mail account for the other service, just toggle on the Notes Button. Also works with Hotmail/Outlook.
