Since the iPhone SE has great battery life...

If they can make the battery as good on the 7 it would be great. The SE blows the 6s out of the water when it comes to battery
 
The smaller, lower resolution screen are the main reasons the iPhone SE gets such good battery life, and I don't see Apple reducing the screen size or resolution of the next iPhone. Maybe they'll make a 4" version to go along with the 4.7" and 5.5" models, but who knows?

Sure, but the 5S had terrible battery life and only the internals were updated. I'm sure Apple can apply similar modifications to the 7.

Yeah this helps a lot. The fact that the 6s battery is only 1715 mah doesn't help at all.

The difference between the 6s and SE battery is only 63 mah and the se has fewer features... Makes sense...

However the se is a great little phone and I have found myself not going back to my 6s or 6s Plus

I can't see them updating the 4" this quick. I have a feeling this first se will either be updated again in march or it will be an 18 month device and not get updated until the big refresh in fall '17

My iPhone 5s had great battery life. My iPhone SE is only a little better than my iPhone 5s was when I first got it. That probably has to do with a more efficient processor.
 
Perhaps the 7 Plus & 7 Pro models. A 1715 mAh battery for a "720p/750p display is just too small and I don't care if iOS and newer is well optimized. Apple should go 2300 mAh as the bare minimum for the 4.7 model.
