Since when do iphone activation require phone number and social security :(

So I decided to upgrade my iphone 4 to 4.3.3 because i got the gevy unlock chip and wanted to use that because I am on a baseband that can't be unlocked.

Anyway After putting my tmobile sim card in there it asked me my att phone number and I just put a random number thinking that is just a silly screener, than to find out that I need social security and zip code of that persons phone number?


Anyway My question is, my friend owns a 4g also on att, can I use his number with his sim card and his social security number to activate the phone? or will that affect him in anyway?

I know I can hackactivate it with jailbreak, however I don't want to jailbreak my phone right now.

U just need an official SIM on the iPhone and it will activate by itself when u connect it to iTunes.

nope, just borrow/buy an official SIM (doesn't have to service) and it will activate.
