single click address bar to highlight whole thing

This is a fairly small quibble, but I was wondering if I could make the address bar on Firefox on OSX behave as it does on Windows. Namely, I would like it if I could single click the address bar anywhere to highlight the entire field. When I try to do that, it only highlights one complete part of the url. Any ideas?

Click on the favicon and the whole address will highlight! 🙄
You can even drag it to the shortcut bar, the bookmarks or make a shortcut on the desktop, even drop it in some application...

I just hit this thread during a google search for exactly the same niggle... however, one of my other hits gave me a much better solution - so I thought I'd mirror the advice here:

type about:config in the firefox address bar

scroll down to the settings "browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll" and "browser.urlbar.clickAtEndSelects"

double click each of these lines to toggle their values from "false" to "true".

Shut down (CMD-Q) firefox and restart ... the address bar should now work just how you want it 🙂
