UPDATE 2: Randomly stopped working again shortly after, and hasn’t worked since.

UPDATE: Wasn’t fixed by iOS 16.0.2, but randomly started working again later. Strange stuff.

I’ve seen a couple of reports of this on twitter, but not much elsewhere.

As of 2-3 days ago, Siri and Dictation do not work, at all. When I try Dictation, I see a little mic symbol with an x:

Similarly, Siri never has my words appear onscreen, just… “One sec… Still on it… Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again.”

Anybody having this issue? Any suggestions? Rebooting did not work.

Mine is still broken, been broken since the first beta I installed, which was beta 5. Very frustrating and makes me want to move to android, I saw a comparison video, and wow Google Assistant is much better.

Yeah, mine stopped working again shortly after it started working. Disappointing. Hopefully upgrading to the 14 Pro will resolve the issue. So I can avoid restoring.

I had hoped that today's 16.0.3 update would fix this but it has not.

I had also notice that Siri is not working for me.
It kind of responds but then end with "Sorry, something went wrong..."
I contacted support about that and they said that their records show a problem with Siri on some phones that prevents it from working. They said "our engineers are working on it", though of course no ETA.

I suspect that that is related to the issue breaking Dictation. It seems like problem with voice recognition. Siri and dictation work just fine on my Watch but not on my iPhone.

Thankfully I haven’t had this issue since upgrading to the 14 Pro. Best of luck.

And here it is January 2023 and I'm having these problems with Iphone 11 and 16.0.3 update. Not nice. It started with a Carplay glitch; all of a sudden a few days ago, my male British siri had been replaced with a female droid voice and all kinds of problems started with Carplay. Then today I noticed my usual Siri on the iphone was not able to function. I get the reply "something went wrong; try again". I've been trying all kinds of things with no avail.

Some of us who had the problem where Sir and dictation stopped working found that, if you switch to a different voice and then switch back to your favored voice, Siri will work again. It sounds like something gets corrupted in the setup and forcing it to switch voices and download a fresh copy clears up the problem.
