What features that worked with the old Siri app under iOS4 are not in iOS 5 with Siri on the iPhone 4S.

I had Siri with my iPhone 4. It could find air flights for me between two cities, or find sunset/ sunrise, etc.

I tried the flight quetion in the Apple store...no go. How many other useful things are missing? Will it still book you a reservation with Open Table?

Is apple holding back on these features for a later date?

Any users of both, I'd love to hear from you.

Since you cannot use the APP anymore....it does not matter.

Of course it matters. One reason for me to upgrade is to get Siri back.

But if it doesn't do what it once did, I will wait.

lol @ thinking it doesn't matter.

OP - I don't have the 4S, but the fact they killed off this app really frusturates me to no end. Makes me want to upgrade less, not upgrade more.

Depending on what you need it to do, try the free app Vlingo which still works on the 3GS/4. It does a lot of what the old Siri app did (and in some cases, does it better).

The new Siri app does do a lot of things that Vlingo can't do and the old Siri app couldn't do just because of its integration into the OS. But if you are just looking to get the old functionality back for now, try Vlingo before buying a new phone just for Siri.

Thanks. I already have had Vlingo, but it doesn't match Siri (nor vice versa).

Was hoping that the new Siri would be the old, plus Vlingo. I also have Dragon too.

Anyone have an answer to my OP?

The original question was what did the old app do that the new version doesn't do...that was answered...it does everything and a lot more.

Siri on the 4s doesn't currently support third party apps so checking flights is a no go. You can however say "search for x flight" and Google should pull it right up. Same goes for sports scores and things like that. Since Siri is in beta, I'd assume Apple will be adding more features.

they specifically said it will be updated later to work with additional apps....I also think the api is open to developers.

Thanks guys for the answer. Apple should have keep the 3rd party app in at launch.

If it is coming maybe I will move forward.
