On my iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2, Siri can’t play any music that is not downloaded to my phone.

If I say to Siri "play Madonna like a virgin” , it plays because it’s in my music.

If I say to Siri “play Taylor Swift Style”, the screen shows “Now playing Style by Taylor Swift” but nothing happens - it doesn’t stream.

Anybody else having the same issue?

I don't have any issues playing music not downloaded, but I do have an issue getting Siri to play Radio.

If I say "Play Beats 1" or "Play Radio" she just tells me "Sorry, beats 1 isn't available in your region".

I'm in the UK, and I'm listening to it right now...

Actually I find Siri plays some songs but not others. Can you try this for me please.

Ask Siri to "play another one bites the dust by Queen". Do it while you are not in the music app.

What happens?

I get this but nothing actually plays...

Having this issue also. Seems random for me, and isn't just for tracks that I don't own. Just tested it with songs I have never owned, some play, some don't. Tried rebooting the phone in case it was a local issue, no success.

One other test, tracks that didn't play (even though they say they are playing) issue occured on iPhone and iPad. Tracks that did work, worked on both devices so it seems the issue relates to the song itself.

Yup, I get this issue too. I have a UK Apple account but am in Czech Republic, however I can listen to Beats 1 from the Music app with no problem and regardless, Beats 1 is available in both countries.

Seems like it's a UK account only issue. Confirmed with other UK users that we all have the issue with the example from the original poster of "If I say to Siri “play Taylor Swift Style”, the screen shows “Now playing Style by Taylor Swift” but nothing happens - it doesn’t stream." Asked a non-UK user to try the same thing and he had no issues. Some licensing issue possibly? Can some other UK users try to confirm for sure.

Worth noting, my issue of Beats1 not playing when requested by siri has been fixed in iOS 9. Taylor Swift style also plays correctly when requested.

I tried it and it works perfectly on my iPad and iPhone. I had the music app closed on both and I don't have that song in my library. But it played it fine. You can see my screenshot.

I can ask Siri to play a song via my apple watch and it plays.

If I ask the same thing on my phone the same track does not play.

Crazy
