With iOS 9.3.4, when I used "Hey Siri," in my car, Siri would respond over Bluetooth to my car'/ speakers using Bluetooth audio. On iOS 10 (PB 6), Siri will respond over Bluetooth but now as a Bluetooth Phone Call, meaning it is a bit slower, interrupts all other sounds, and is of much lower quality. Other sounds on my phone (e.g., keyboard clicks) play over Bluetooth audio, without interrupting things, as do Apple Maps and Google Maps (which gives me the option of playing over Bluetooth Audio or as a Bluetooth Phone Call) when giving directions.

Has anyone gotten Siri to respond over Bluetooth audio with iOS 10 (as Siri did with iOS 9.3.4)?

    Thanks a bunch!

Once you ask Siri something and it starts to respond you will see a little bluetooth icon in the bottom right hand corner where you can change the output.

The output is not not the problem as it is already set to output to my car. With iOS 9.3.4, it would send the output over Bluetooth audio (A2DP) but now, it is sending it as a Bluetooth phone call.

Oh I gotcha. My car doesn't have A2DP just handsfree so I have never used it any other way. When using a headset the little bluetooth icon in the corner does the trick to change the output. I guess not so much for the car, ha.

The little icon only works on a global level, that is, switching between output on the iPhone or output to an external source. Unfortunately, it doesn't allow you to select the method of output (call vs A2DP), but it is odd that all other sounds (e.g., keyboard clicks and even the voice when selecting which voice to use for Siri) output via A2DP.

This is a problem for me too, but when using maps. Siri used to output audio via typical Bluetooth connection, even when I had BT audio off in my car (as soon as I turn on the ignition, my phone hooks up, ready for when calls happen, and maps directions would still come through).

As of iOS 10, maps audio only happens when i have BT audio switched on, which also starts playing music automatically. So basically, i can't have spoken directions unless I'm also playing music in my car. I could pause the music manually, but it didn't work that way in iOS 9. Its a step backwards in that regard.

Interesting. Sorry to hear that yours is even more messed-up than mine! There is another thread about BT problems in general, so maybe there are some general BT bugs that will be fixed by the GM?
