Recently(the past month?) I cannot get Siri to turn on my AppleTV. I can turn on the AppleTV with my phone and computer through the Home app, but if I ask the Homepod to turn it on, Siri says "i'm having problems with the connection". What's odd is that I can turn off the TV via Siri after it's been turned on.

Any ideas?

from the many YouTube vids I have seen HomePod can't turn tv on, maybe in the future.

My HomePod will say my AppleTV can’t be found or isn’t responding (something like that) but it turns on anyway which makes my TV turn on also.

Actually I just found out that if I ask Siri on my phone, it will turn it on, but still can’t get my HomePod to do it. HomePod says it might not be on the same network, but all of my devices are on 1 network.

So I figured a workaround to get my homepod to turn on the TV. If I say "Hey Siri, turn on the Apple TV" it works. What's odd is that I have it named "TV" in the Home app.

IIRC, it works for me, but it has occasionally not worked for whatever reason.

Anyway, a possible workaround that came to mind: create a siri shortcut named "turn on the tv" that contains just a "wake apple tv" action. Maybe that will do the trick? Though I don't think you should have to...

It might just be the Home App struggling to keep tabs on what the status is of each device. Before giving any Siri commands open the Home App and look at those devices. Do they show correctly?

Just a thought...

Also had this problem a few weeks back. Seems to have corrected itself. Not sure what happened.

I did notice that for some reason my Homepod is on 14.2.1 and my iPhone is on 14.2(which it says is up to date).
