Siri Demo

THANK YOU OP! I haven't seen this! :apple:

Edit: Now that I've watched it in full, I must say. I'm impressed! I'm highly stoked for Siri.

At this point, I'd actually be more interested in videos demonstrating Siri actually being asked a legitimate question or task and failing due to the AI (And not just crappy enunciation by the user)

Edit: thanks OP, not meant as a dig at you, just curious to see what Siri won't be able to do at this point.

Josh Topolsky of TIMN/Verge said that Siri couldn't do something like: "Show me nearby theaters playing Moneyball"

Pretty sure you can change the language of Siri (British, Australian, or American English) and I think it'll change the voice for ya. Of course, it affects how it understands you too...

Edit: Nevermind.. posted this after watching the video and saw its been posted.

Now the girls have an option to talk dirty to their phone as well.. jk
 
not sure if its a regional thing, but the last preview shows siri talking with an accent and a guys voice.

Maybe this will be an option within siri's settings?

yeah, I'm really wondering how many people will start speaking in British phraseology simply because they prefer the british accent version of Siri. Haha.
 
I bet Siri can't execute the following:

- launch Facebook app
- dial 2123361440 using Skype app
- restart my iPhone
- check for software updates
- set passcode lock
- set brightness to 25%
- turn on WiFi/Bluetooth
- clear all notifications in the notification center
- show me the page that has the Angry Birds app
- delete Google+ app
- clear Safari browsing history
- back up my iPhone in 2 days
- check the App Store for any app updates
- translate the word HAPPINESS into French
- fetch lyrics for the currently playing song using Safari
- search App Store for the most popular social networking app and install it
- lock my iPhone
- (while on a call) turn on the speaker
- (while on a call) press number 3
- clear all notification badges on all apps
- mark all my mail as read
- show me all contacts whose phone number ends in 1440
- tweet the latest photo in Photos app
- mute all sounds at 12AM
- what is the next holiday in the US?
- define/pronounce the word spelt as P-A-N-A-C-H-E
- how do you spell the word [fəˈsäd]?

Lot of good stuff there, hopefully we see some of that in with the next few updates. Controlling brightness would be nice, as would opening and interacting with 3rd part apps.

Thanks, though I really meant more from what it couldn't do from an AI sense (and even then, not as a pro/anti Siri thing, just from an AI curiosity sense). Most of those sound mostly like it more won't do them than can't do them, either because the app you are referencing hasn't been updated to 'play with' Siri or because it may not be a good idea to be able to do it without making sure that's what you want to do through a screen, IDK though.
 
I wonder if apple care+ will cover asking:

"is the statement 'this sentence is a lie.' true?"
 
Wow pretty impressive but yeah I'd like to be able to change some settings thru Siri. Hopefully it's coming. One other thing...if I password lock my phone can I still use Siri? If you can then there's no point in password protection right?

He said it displayed the local theaters, but did not display the show times.

So it did what he asked, he just wanted it to do more work
 
Sounds great! I kind of wrote Siri off as a feature that I'd never use but the more I read/see about it, the more intrigued I am!
 
Does iOS5 come with Wolfram Alpha app? Demo shows it's pulling info from it but what if I don't have that app?
 
I wonder if I can change Siri's voice and NOT have it change what needs to be input...

like, can i have the english dude's voice even if i'm using an american accent to talk into it? i think the normal american woman voice sounds boring. i want an english person speaking back to me, GOD DAMNIT.

i agree. having her talk in british brogue is HAWT!
 
So you have to click it each time you want to speak? I thought once you touch the home button it stays on?
