Of all the things to worry about, this is probably near the bottom of the list but it does add some microfriction because I think the icon is ugly every time I click or tap it.

Anyone get a sort of repulsive reaction to this? I'm getting a feeling similar to how people get repulsed by groups of holes in nature. Feels alien or insect-like to me.

This icon was fantastic and Apple has even returned to these colourful waves in the '27 OS cycle.

In fact, Siri in iOS gives us a hint to where this should go, an Apple Rainbow wave in a glass container.

The resemblance to the Sony Ericsson logo is uncanny.

Probably not so coincidentally, when Sony-Ericsson came out with a flattened, simplified version of this logo, it triggered a similar trypophobic response in the 90s early 2000s. This version of the logo was thankfully very short lived.

I really hope Apple reconsiders the icon because for whatever reason, it's one of the only apps that you cannot change its icon in macOS.

I'm submitting a feature request ticket. Feel free to join me if you feel the same.

Let's hear your thoughts.

Reactions: arc of the universe
Looks like this might actually be taken seriously from an accessibility standpoint:

POTENTIAL VISUAL TRIGGERS

The design of the Siri icon contains several elements that can be associated with trypophobic or visually sensitive responses:

Negative Space and Cavities The icon features two distinct, hollowed-out negative spaces separated by a central, curved band. For some individuals, deeply shadowed negative spaces can be perceived as cavities or hollows, which are common triggers.
High-Contrast Edges The sharp contrast between the bright, glowing edges of the inner shape and the darker, shadowed interior creates a strong visual boundary. High-contrast, repetitive edges are known to cause visual stress or discomfort in some people.
Biological Mimicry, the shape that can be perceived as resembling biological forms, such as insect eyes, segmented bodies, or organic cellular structures. The brain's pattern recognition can sometimes associate these abstract shapes with potentially harmful organic matter, leading to a feeling of repulsion.
