Siri was working fine through bluetooth until yesterday. I cant hear Siri speak when connected to my car's bluetooth. I just downloaded 13.1.1 hoping it would fix it but it didn't. I have a 2014 Mazda CX-9. No Carplay. Any ideas or suggestions?

Edit: I have unpaired and re-paired the phone and still nothing. Again, it worked on my 11 until yesterday.

Honestly, I'm not sure it's due to your iPhone malfunctioning. I say this because I've got a 2013 F150 with the exact same issue, and have for going on 4 years now. About that long ago, Ford pushed out version 4.6 for the MyFord system. It improved the stability of the system software, but yeah, it took out Siri intreaction via the system's mic. HOWEVER....I can easily pair the same phone with other vehicles (my sister's Subaru, brother in law's Tacoma, etc.) and Siri works just ducky through the system mic.

One side note - while I can't use my truck's mic to talk to Siri, I *CAN* hold the phone up near my mouth and say "Hey Siri" and interact with the phone itself. (Granted, the whole point of being able to use the system's mic is so you DON'T have to do this...but hey, it's something.)

I'll nose around to see if I can find out more.

Well yeah, and that's what I specifically used the words "I'm not sure..." 😄

In my case, I did test my phone by deleting the BT profiles from my phone/truck, and then repaired; and I also completely reloaded iOS on my phone. Still didn't work...then I realized it worked fine in my friends' cars. LOL That's what I'd do, and if it doesn't fix the issue, I'd hit up Mazda to see what they say.

I did all of that and even downloaded 13.1.1 earlier. I am going to reboot my audio system in the car later to see if that does anything. Thanks for your help.

No problem. I know how much of a HUGE pain in the butt the MyFord system has been over the last....er, 5 years...so I figure if I can help someone else out, it'll save them some of the frustration.

I actually prefer the truck just let me talk to Siri. 2012 F-150 and BT isn’t reliable. I have to select BT over and over to play music from my phone.

Well, that used to be the case until update 4.6 (or whatever it was called) of the MyFord system. While very little about the system has been reliable, two things it did indeed change for me was

- the lack of needing to reset the system every few weeks
- auto-connection to BT when I get back in the truck.

But yeah I'd rather just talk to Siri. Planning an upgrade to my truck audio system soon; I've already got aftermarket speakers and the 10" custom sub enclosure under the back seat; I just need to replace the radio so I can actually have some reliable circuitry between the front vents. LOL

I’m all over iOS but looks like I need to learn how to update my truck OS.

It's not at all hard. Do you have the base version, the MyFord (the 4" screen) or the MyFord Touch version?

Ok, it uses the same as the MyFord system; I *believe* the latest version for your system is the same at mine - 4.6.

To be sure you'd need to go to https://owner.ford.com and either log in, or create an account. Once that's done, you basically click on Support and then Sync, and it'll basically walk you through it. You essentially download it to a USB stick, insert it to one of the USB slots in your truck, and follow instructions to upload it.

Will try this. Thank you.

FYI updated to 13.1.2 and still no resolution. I still can't hear Siri in the car when on bluetooth.

I once had a somewhat similar problem and the reason was I had left my headphones powered on and the phone was using them for sound output (they were stored in the trunk of the car).

I recognize it might not be what's happening to you, but you never know.

Thanks but no headphones in the car. Its also not just Siri its also Maps or anything that outputs sound to the car speakers. Phone calls work fine though, and come through my car speakers. Its strange.
