Works for me... I press the little icon (the toggle between icon view and dashboard view) and speak my command... Works every time.

I couldn't figure out why siri stopped responding on my beats, my phone turned hey siri off by itself not sure when this happened, but it was on one of the recent updates. so you might want to check to make sure hey siri is actually turned on.
