Siri loves itself to much, it refuses to understand "I owe my mum £30" Instead, it's "iPhone my mum £30"

NO!!! Stupid thing !! 'I OWE' !!

Seriously i was trying for 15 minutes, i tried to teach it by correcting it by text everytime..nope.

It works well for me, at first I was saying " text Jon" but because I have 2 Jo(h)ns it wanted to sent it to JOHN instead of JON, worked after trying a few times and seems to have learnt quite a bit already.

I talk pretty fast, really hoping it understands most of what I say, if not I'll be a little disappointed. :(

pretty good for me

successfully asking for weather, time and a bunch of other things

I have a limp london accent though ;)

Yeah it works decent most of the time. Just a few words for me, like 'i owe' becomes iPhone and ID becomes idea.

I've tried to read newspaper articles to Siri and while it works somewhat, there are so many grave mistakes in it that I often don't even get what the text was about anymore. Hardly usable.

I wonder if it's Siri that's learning to understand me, or if it's me learning how to speak so that Siri understands. I suppose it's the latter.

I dont quite understand how it 'learns' if there is no way to correct it ?

Here's what the apple website says.

Siri works right out of the box, without any work on your part. And the more you use Siri, the better it will understand you. It does this by*learning about your accent and other characteristics of your voice. Siri uses voice recognition algorithms*to categorize*your voice into one of the dialects or accents it understands.*As more people use Siri and it’s exposed to more variations of a language, its overall recognition of dialects and accents will continue to improve, and Siri will work even better.

So it looks like its not going to happen on your phone. We'll have to wait on apple collating loads of dialects and matching your voice to one of them. I can live with that though so long as they can do it.
