siri issue with M3s

Hi All,

Siri on my new MBP 14 inch is using Daniel's voice and the usual Siri voices won't download. There is a reddit thread here

Anyone else got this issue? I have compared all the settings between my M1 MBP and this M3 and all are the same. But Siri voices not available on the M3.

Under system settings - Siri and spotlight - Siri American Voice 4 is on. I have the M3 Pro.
I'm on Sonoma 14.1.1

thanks for the responses. I can set the voice to Siri but it still uses Daniel. You can see from the photos that the Siri voices are not downloaded and when I press to download they just don't. The voice selection says "Siri voice will be used when downloaded". (Ignore the red "text" box.

Just got off the phone with apple support. They are now saying this is an "Emerging issue" which they are aware of but no fix at this time. They are working on it and say they will update me on Wed.

Same problem with iMac M3.
on Virtual macOS Sonoma on the same iMac download works as expected.
 
Quick update. Apple just called me back. The engineers have confirmed it is an issue and they have had multiple reports. They are not looking for log files which apparently means they know what is it causing it and it will be addressed in a OS update. Not great but also not the end of the world either.

Same problem on M1 Max (MacBook Pro) with 14.2 beta 4. Also, home folder is on a separate volume than the OS is on (internal large SSD broken into multiple volumes to make re-installations and upgrades more resilient; have seen others with similar setup reporting same problem).

My Siri is now working as expected. The Siri voices can be downloaded and they work. Started working Last night.

Nice to hear it's working for you, but it is not for me and the other systems we have (M1 Max units).
 
Siri voice selection in Accessibility → Spoken Content → System voice in 14.3 beta 2 is still broken for those of us experiencing this and haven't yet had it resolved.
 
today I remembered I had siri on my computer.. she is so worthless on the phone, I never even looked for her on my m3.

The voices are what is excellent - if you can get them to work... I like to read texts with Siri voices, but still nada even with 14.3 (23D56).
