This started happening to me before iOS 16, but it's still an issue. Formerly, when I would ask Siri, "What's the weather going to be like today?" and she would answer by telling me the current conditions (sunny, cloudy, raining, etc.) and the current temperature, but then she would also tell me about the future (e.g. expect clear skies, expect rain starting around 2pm, etc.) and let me know the high and low temperature (I believe). Now she no longer gives my anything except the current temp and conditions. What gives?

I never thought about asking Siri about the weather, so I can’t say what it was like before but I can say which you’re getting is exactly what I’m getting on iOS 16.

I just chalk it up to Siri being useless. If I want to know the weather, I just check the weather app or a weather app.

Except the whole point is to HEAR the forecast while I'm getting ready for work or whatever instead of having to stop and look it up. I don't think Siri is useless at all, as I use her (er . . . it) all the time to set alarms, timers, reminders, events, do calculations, look up general info, inquire about my schedule, etc. I'm just confused as to why the "full" forecast is no longer being given.

I've noticed that lately Siri has been reporting the day's average temperature to me rather than highs and lows. I gave up on trying to use Siri for a weather update at that point.

Yeah, I just wish I knew if this is an actual bug or the new expected behavior, and--if the latter--what Apple's logic is behind making it less user-friendly.

Yeah I can see how that would be very helpful. Didn’t apple advertise some sort of morning update thing where you get out of bed and say hey what’s my update and it was supposed to give you everything about the weather in your appointments and stuff like that? Wait I just tried to do that and still a short weather forecast. I’m not sure 😢

Sorry me and Siri just don’t get along. I can ask her to do something very basic like turn the light on and 90% of the time she’ll do it but there’s that annoying 10% of the time where either she just doesn’t respond, respond, saying she doesn’t understand or can’t do what I’m asking, or does something totally off the wall.

I just tried it again on my homepod mini and it successfully gave me a weather summary for today and tomorrow, and reported both the high and low temps rather than an average.

Occasionally I get that, but my biggest gripe is more of an Apple Watch raise-to-speak issue. Seems half the time I raise my wrist and say, "Hey, remind me [blah blah blah]" it will show the Siri "bubble" and my words are transcribed on the screen, but then they immediately disappear and no reminder is created. I have to do this 2-3 times before it finally is fully processed. However, if I press and hold the digital crown to activate Siri to make a reminder, it works pretty much 100% of the time.

Must be a HomePod thing (I don't have one). Whether I ask Siri via my Apple Watch or iPhone, all she tells me is the current conditions and temp. I've tried many times since this problem first started and have never once had success in getting her to verbalize more info.

Thankfully, I can still ask Siri "Will it rain today?" or things like that and she will answer, but it was much nicer just to have a weather summary without having to ask multiple questions.

"Hey Siri, what's the weather?"

"It's currently cloudy and 16°. Expect rain starting early in the morning, temperatures are heading down from 16° to 13° tonight".

Still working fine here.

/edit - Ahh, I see new posts since I started typing. I get the above on a HomePod. If I ask Siri on my phone I just get "It's cloudy and 16°".

So you can be jealous of our temps and I can be jealous that Siri likes you better than she likes me 🤷🏼‍♂️

By the way, what Apple product with Siri were you using when you asked her that question?

Or you can be jealous of both. 16°C is warmer than 57°F. (I don't think it'd be 16°F anywhere in the US yet.) ;)

But yeah...seeing the same behavior as everyone else. HomePod mini gives me the full forecast. iPhone (iOS 16) and iPad (iPadOS 15) give me the short/current weather conditions.

I tried again with my phone. "Hey Siri, what's the forecast for today" gives the expected result. "Hey Siri, what's the weather today" just reports the current conditions.

Me: "Hey Siri, what's the forecast for today?"

Siri: "It's currently raining and 61 degrees"

🤷🏼‍♂️ No matter how I phrase the question, it's always only the current conditions and temp.

It's worse for me, "What's the weather?" gets "You'll need to unlock your device first" or when unlocked it just opens the Weather app without speaking.

On the other hand, "Hey Siri, is it cold outside?" gets the whole forecast with highs and lows. The same question but doing it by physically pressing the button without Hey Siri gets the shortened forecast.

Interesting. "Hey Siri is it cold outside?" just worked on my iPhone to give me the more detailed forecast (except she gave me the average temp, not the min/max):

"It's currently cloudy and 59 degrees. Expect rain starting in the afternoon. Temperatures will be fairly consistent, averaging about 57 degrees."

But asking the same question to Siri on my Apple Watch only gets:

"It doesn't seem particularly cold to me"

and an on-screen conditions/temp display

Ok, I just discovered if I ask Siri on my iPhone, "What is today's FULL forecast" I get:

"It's currently cloudy and 59 degrees. Expect rain starting in the morning. Today's high will be 61 degrees, and the low will be 55 degrees"

But the rain forecast there contradicts the one given when you ask "Hey Siri is it cold outside?" And when I ask for the "FULL" forecast on my Apple Watch, Siri still replies only:

"It's currently cloudy and 59 degrees.

SMH! What a convoluted mess Apple has made out of this! Siri's response should be the same for the same question regardless of which device you're using.

I have exactly the same issue.

I would wake up and while I was dressing or setting up something I would ask Siri to tell me how would be the weather.

She would give me a full report about the weather and now it just says how is the weather currently at the moment. No information added. It’s pretty annoying even if I ask, “how will be the weather throughout the day?” or similar questions, no success.

Have you figure it out yet?

See post 18. I seem to have luck when I ask "What is the full forecast?"

Wow! It worked! Thanks! I was trying every single combination of phrases to ask Siri about the weather throughout the day. It seems that this is the only possible combination:

“Hey Siri what is the full forecast for today?”

I have tried many variations of this sentence and none of them worked. It is really very stupid that Siri doesn’t take other perfectly valid variations of this sentence. You need to say exactly this and only this one sentence.

Anyway, thank you again so much. Very very useful.

PS: it doesn’t even work if you say
“Hey Siri what is the full WEATHER forecast for today?” (Pretty amazing…)

Yeah, it's stupid. Unless you ask Siri a more specific question (e.g. "What's today's high temperature?") then it should respond with the full forecast by default, regardless of specific phrasing.
